My Background
I am the assistant editor for the state government team at the Columbia Missourian, where I use my skills in reporting, AP style and knowledge of the state's functions to ensure our team of writers produces timely and detailed reporting. I am additionally responsible for assigning and supervising general assignment reporters twice a week.
I have covered the state government since the summer of 2024, first as a reporter and now as an editor. My reporting has been republished in numerous outlets, including the Missouri Independent, Branson Tri-Lake News, Longview News Journal, the Joplin Globe, The Neighbor Newspaper, the Maryville Forum and many more.
During the summer of 2025 I worked as a reporting intern for The Chief (formerly The Chief-Leader), a print weekly newspaper covering unions in the New York City area. In my time with The Chief, I reported on changes to federal unions under the Trump administration and their impact on local union members.
I am a dual major in journalism and English at the University of Missouri. My involvement also stretches into the School of Music, where I play saxophone and work as a research assistant.
I have also worked for the Missouri Review, a literary magazine, and Melville House Publishing, an indie publisher. My interest in music has also led me into work in media relations with the "We Always Swing" Jazz Series, a non-profit concert series.
I was born and raised in the Kansas City area. I enjoy reading, playing and listening to music, watching movies and learning about history in my limited free time.
